The adventurers are travelling from London to Punta Arenas, Southern Chile, where they will spend a few days acclimatising. A charter plane will then take them to Antarctica to run Leg 1 and back to Punta Arenas to run Leg 2 in the same day. From here they will travel economy class on a round the world ticket and will have between 11 and 16 hours between touch down and take off for Leg’s 3 to 6, before the final run in London. Sleep will be limited and sporadic, and consist mainly of napping at terminals and during flights.
YES. The runners are flying 50,000 miles each and Windpower Wales have agreed to neutralise the expeditions carbon emissions by planting trees at Hendre Llwyn y Maen where they have 3 acres of land specifically setaside for such carbon offset. Read more about our Carbon footprint
Using an event of this nature as a spring board, the 4 runners have a huge opportunity through media channels to raise money and awareness for their chosen charities. Oliver is running for Kids Company based in South London, a charity that specialises in helping disadvantaged children. Chris & Stu are running for Isaacs House a Ugandan orphanage, whilst Jack is running for Hoylake Cottage, a hospice in the Wirral. Read more about our charities
